Karina Jambrak
Artist
Karina Jambrak is an Australian artist based in Sydney. She often draws inspiration from the raw beauty of the natural environment and landscapes found around her eastern suburbs studio, trips abroad as well as far-flung fantasised lands of exotic creatures and sundrenched, contoured landscapes. A lover of warm earthy tones, Karina’s pieces usually feature rich tones and layers of intricate patterns. She seeks to evoke feelings of optimism and freedom within the viewer as she transports them to one of her picturesque vistas.
Being ever-curious and creative, Karina enjoys experimenting with different mediums and techniques and branching out with different subject matters to create refreshing collections with broad commercial appeal. Karina has been creating for as long as she can remember. She earned money as a teenager from selling her self-taught artworks at Sydney’s famous Bondi Markets when she was just 17. Since then, Karina obtained a Bachelor’s degree in textile and graphic design, graduating from the University of NSW, College of Fine Arts in 2005. From there she pursued a successful graphic and textile design career in leading agencies and in-house in some of Australia’s biggest clothing retail brands before unexpectedly being made redundant in 2018.
Unbeknownst at the time, this roadblock and what felt like a huge setback, was the birth of something new and exciting for Karina as she started to ‘create’ again for herself. In May 2019, with great trepidation, she launched her business and despite riding the highs and lows of being a small business owner, Karina has never looked back. She is filled with immense gratitude for the opportunity to be able to share her passion and inspiration in her pieces. Over the past 4 years, Karina’s unique approach to art and design in retail has led her to work in her capacity as an artist with iconic Australian and international brands. Karina’s work has been featured on USA home décor brand The Jungalow and Australian brands Adairs, Milton & King, Kollab, Greenhouse Interiors, Budgy Smuggler and Hallmark. She has also illustrated a children’s book and has been featured on The Block and is a feature artist on Stockholm-based poster company, Desenio.
