Ruby Trew
Skateboarding & Surfing
Ruby Trew’s passion for surfing and skateboarding began early. At six months old her dad put her on a surfboard and started her journey. By five, she was skateboarding, and by six, she was competing in contests for both sports.
Ruby’s dedication paid off quickly. At ten, she won silver for Australia in the women’s vert contest at the 2019 World Skateboarding Championships in Barcelona. The same year, she became the NSW under-12 state surfing champion and won the National Oz Grom Surfing competition for under-12 girls at Lennox Head. Then in 2021 won the Woolworths National under 14s surfing Title along side the Women’s National park Skateboarding contest called Bowlzilla on the Gold Coast.
Targeted by the talent identification programs of Surfing Australia and Skateboarding Australia, Ruby is now seen as a future star in both Olympic sports. Her current focus is on skateboarding, where she won silver at the 2023 World Skateboarding Pro Tour event in San Juan, Argentina. And now in 2024 Ruby has qualified for 2024 Paris Olympics.
Ruby will be 15 years when she competes at the Paris Olympic Games, becoming the seventh youngest Australian Olympian.
After the Paris Olympics, she plans to shift her focus to surfing, with the goal of joining the Australian team for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
