Fun loving, confident, and exceedingly driven, Shyla Short aspires for excellence in everything she sets out to do.

Growing up in a surfing family has created a passion for Shyla Short that can only be satisfied by the water. Having now been an avid surfer for over ten years, four of which have been competing, the year 2017 proved to be a pivotal year coming first place in both the Kadet Cup under 12’s and the Wahu Kiama under 10’s.

At aged 16 Shyla is now competing in the women’s competition alongside her big sister Zahlia. She is currently ranked 74th in the Women’s Qualifying Series, her best result of the 2022/2023 season coming in at 13th place in the Phillip Island Pro.

When not surfing, Shyla can be found on the slopes snowboarding or in the dance studio, following two other passions that keep her fit and focused while she’s reaching for her goals.
